Tourism shipping activities in Labuan Bajo have continued to show a significant upward trend in the last four years.
In the BPOLBF Tourism Stakeholder Forum, Thursday (8/5/2025), the Head of the Labuan Bajo KSOP, Stephanus Risdiyanto, explained the sharp increase in tourist ship departures since 2021.
In 2021, there were around 8,000 tourist ship departures. This number jumped to 20,000 in 2022, rose again to 30,000 in 2023, and reached 35,000 tourist ships in 2024.
This growth strengthens Labuan Bajo’s position as one of the leading marine-based destinations in Indonesia.
Although the number of ships has increased, the KSOP ensures that the safety aspect of shipping remains a priority.
The ship accident ratio in Labuan Bajo is recorded as very low, at only 0.03%, or around 3 incidents per 100,000 ship departures. In fact, in 2023 and 2024, there were no fatalities recorded.
He also hopes that the increase in tourist ship activity shows great economic potential.
